A little Information about Ms. Moseley

Hello Everyone!
I am Ms. Moseley. I am currently a student at the University of South Alabama. I have one son, John Colby, He is 1 year old. He is my pride and joy. This semester I have learned about many things I will be able to bring into the classroom. All of them benifit the students. I have put together a website, so people can take a look at a few of the ideas I hope to use. I hope you enjoy the site!

Podcast and Videocast

In the future, I hope to use Podcast and Videocast in my classroom. It is an excellent way to allow students the opportunity to listen to others point of view. These tools can be very educational. I look at it as a way of keeping the students entertained. Our world is getting more technological advanced. We need to give our students the opportunity to use technology to further their education. It is a new way of teaching. If we sit back and continue to stick with the same instructional methods as we have used for the past 30 years, our students and our children will be left behind in the world. I hope to allow students to record their own podcast. This will allow students to be able to get their voices out into the world.

Community Building

Community Building are a must in every classroom. These activities bring the class closer together and teach the students values. My students will be learning things such as behavior, self-confidence, respect, and other important ideas. Communitiy Building will eliminate many disciplanary problems in the classroom. If students understand they are each equal pupils, many will have less need to act out.

Learning Styles

I am aware of the diferrent types of Learning Styles, and I beleive it is important to teach to meet each one. If the students are not taught in different ways some students wil be left in the dark. It is my responsibilty as a teacher to learn each students individual style. I take full responsibilty, and I hope I can reach each of my students. We will do hands on activities and relate course work to music. I will have photographs and pictures of various things we cover in class. I will give each child the oppurtunity to learn in the way thats suits their needs.

Integrating Art and Music

Integrating Art and Music into the content area is important for the children's education. Each child deserves the oppurtunity to learn about these subject areas. As a teacher, I plan on integrating art and music into my classroom. We will do art activities that require higher thinking. The students should be able to identify famous composers by the end of the year. I beleive it is important to push our students. They should be able to get every aspect of education, and I plan to give it to them.

Pen Pals

Have students write to electronic pen pals. I plan on having the students do this by email. The students will locate a student from somewhere beside the state they are located in. They will begin sending email back and forth. I hope to allow the students to have time to video chat with their pen pals. This allows our students to learn the many uses of computers. It allows them to have communication with another students half way across the USA. I think this will be a great oppurtunity.

Disciplanry Actions

At the beginning of the schools year, I will make aware the rules for my classroom. I wil go over them with the students many times. I will also send home a copy to the parents/gardians. They will also be posted on my blog, so there should be no questions to the rules. I will also have a copy of the consequences for disobeying the rules. I will allow the student 6 marks per week. The first mark is basically a warning. When the child gets 4 marks, he/she has to sit out while the other children play that day at P.E. When the 5th mark is given the children have to write a paper about why they acted in that manner, and what they will do to correct their behavior. On the 6th mark the student gets a note sent home to parents in the weekly folder. I do not think it is necessary to send a note home after each mark. I understand parents have bigger problems then children talking in class. Notice I gave the children 6 marks, even though their are only 5 school days a week. I think this gives room for the minor things such as getting out of line and talking. I hope everyone agrees with this method. If you have any suggestions, just let me know.
