Blogs

I believe blogs can be a very useful source of communitcation between teachers, students, and parents. Especially since today's parents are incredibly busy. I believe the parents should be able to keep in touch with the teacher in other ways than parent/teacher conferences. I plan to use blogs by posting homework assignments, student's work, weekly newsletters, links to websites to help parents and students with different projects, and other events occuring in my classroom and school.
It can be a useful way to keep the parents updated. I realize that many parents do not always recieve papers that are sent home with the students. With the blog, parents can view these items. Each week, I will post the homework assignments for the entire week. I will list upcoming test, so the parents will be aware of the dates to help students prepare. I will also post daily descriptions of what was covered in the class on the particular days. I believe this will helpful even if students miss a day of school. The parents can go to the blog, view the material, and know what the child needs to make up.
